Jonty Rhodes
South African cricket coach
Introduction
Jonty Rhodes, born July 27, 1969, in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, is hailed as one of cricket's most electrifying fielders and a game-changing batsman. Known for redefining fielding, he turned it into an art, inspiring a generation. His iconic run-out of Inzamam-ul-Haq during the 1992 World Cup immortalized him as a symbol of agility and commitment.
Across his career, Rhodes played 52 Tests, scoring 2,532 runs, and 245 ODIs with 5,935 runs. His fielding at backward point was revolutionary, making near-impossible plays routine. Post-retirement in 2003, Rhodes shifted to coaching, including stints with Mumbai Indians and, in 2023, Lucknow Super Giants, continuing to inspire new talent. Off the field, he’s known for his humility and dedication, solidifying his legacy as a cricket legend.
